Frequently asked questions

  • Approximately 1 hour. Compact crush is installed using 3 wall brackets and 3 floor post holes. The wall brackets are secured using threaded bar running through the wall (not anchor bolts). The floor post holes are core drilled. This takes approximately 1 - 2 hours (depending on skill level)  to complete. Check out our installation video for more details.

  • Compact Crush can be installed to any block built wall with steel reinforcement beams. (not suitable for stone built walls - walls must be flat, square, and structurally secured). Compact Crush is designed to fit most standard bay sizes, 15ft-16ft. Please specify beam spacing when ordering. Contact us for non standard  requirements.

  • Compact Crush is 80cm (32inches) when open, and only 12cm (6 inches) when folded flat!. Compact crush is the most compact animal handling system on the market. Check out our engineering drawing for exact sizes.

  • Compact Crush is very sturdy thanks to its heavy duty tubular steel construction. The side rails are fastened together using our unique but simple fastening system which eliminates play or movement on the side rail structure.

  • The head gate is locked by the force of the animal moving forward, but can also be operated manually using the side cable, this can be helpful when the animal is hesitant to go forward.

  • Yes, it can.  We are in the final stages of developing a permanently fixed version of the compact crush head gate (This is concreted or bolted to the floor). The compact crush head gate is one of the most robust and use friendly automatic head gates on the market. More details coming soon.

  • The anti backing bar is an excellent addition, giving the user the ability to control the animal with minimal effort, at the same time reducing the risk of injury to both animal and operator. The ABB uses a special rubber washer to lock the backing bar once the animal reverses back, locking it immediately. When the animal moves forward, pressure is removed you can then slide the bar forward effortlessly with one hand. The ABB is easy to use, simply attach the bar to the crush side rails, pull the bar out to let livestock forward, push the bar in behind livestock to hold them forward. Simple, effective and safe.
